About DigiShot

digishot_productpage2The DigiShot electronic detonator system is geared for application at smaller mines and quarries, where small to medium sized blasting capabilities are required. This accurate, robust and safe electronic system consists of a steel down-line, 2-wire, easy to use detonator and has the capability to initiate 300 detonators per blast and has a synchronized blast capability up to a maximum of three blasters allowing for nine hundred detonators to be fired on the bench.

DigiShot is fully programmable, within 1 millisecond increments and the detonator can be set with a delay from zero to twenty thousand milliseconds. The DigiShot electronic detonator system can be interfaced with DetNet’s technologically advanced Viewshot software, allowing users to conveniently and accurately design and simulate the blast for your own purposes. It also allows the blast design to be downloaded into the DigiShot Blaster.

Features

The DigiShot electronic detonator is made up of components that are engineered to create a system, which is safe, robust, accurate and easy to apply:

  • An accurate single electronic detonator with an easy to grip connector that is waterproofed with a leakage-free gel is connected to the inherently safe, portable tagger via a 4 to 2 way converter. A location is assigned to the detonator via the Tagger and, at the same time, it tests for functionality.
  • Once all the detonator locations have been assigned, the surface Bus Wire is laid out on the bench and connected to the detonators. The Tagger is connected to the Bus Wire to do a final functionality and tests for faults of the entire installation. The Tagger is extremely easy to use because of its logical step-by-step software and large buttons.
  • The blast layout will then be entered into the lightweight, portable blaster. This can be done manually off the bench; via the Viewshot software interface; or by connecting the Blaster to the installation using the autosearch function, which will automatically retrieve the blast layout.
  • Once the blast layout has been inputted into the Blaster, delays can be assigned manually against each detonator location, downloaded automatically via the ViewShot software interface or inputted via an auto-programmable method, which can be done easily by inputting a number of step by step blast design parameters such as inter hole delays and inter row delays, including whether there are decks present in the blast configuration. At this stage the delays will be assigned to the layout and the Blaster will be connected to the Bus Wire at a point of safety.
  • Finally, the Blaster receives a password and the Red Smart Key is inserted, which is also password protected, and the DigiShot detonators are initiated.

Safety Elements

The DigiShot electronic detonator system has full DMR approval as well as the CE mark and is one hundred percent safe:
  • The detonators have electrostatic immunity; electromagnetic pulse immunity; resistance to radio frequency interference as it’s encrypted to protect against this; resistance to the mains voltage so it will not detonate when connected to an alternative power source; over-voltage protection against lightening; resistance to dynamic shock so there’s no sympathetic detonation between the detonators in the holes; resistance to mechanical shock because the copper casing that encloses the detonators provide mechanical protection; and the detonator connectors are waterproof.
  • The inherently safe tagger does not have enough blast voltage to initiate a detonator and doesn’t contain the required encoded firing signal.
  • The smart key is password protected and provides the physical link that allows the blast voltage to be raised.
  • The blaster is easily portable and password protected.
